Physician-Led Medical-Legal Consulting Services for Plaintiff Attorneys

Since 1992, MedMal Consulting has provided physician-led medical-legal consulting services exclusively for plaintiff attorneys handling medical malpractice, nursing home negligence, and personal injury cases.

Our physicians help attorneys evaluate complex medical evidence, assess potential departures from the standard of care, understand causation and damages, and identify qualified medical experts. Our services include physician merit reviews, MDTimelines™ medical chronologies, expert witness referrals, and ongoing physician support through Doctor OnCALL℠.

Whether you need an initial assessment of case merit or specialized medical expertise as litigation progresses, MedMal Consulting provides independent, clinically informed analysis to support better-informed case decisions.

Our medical-legal consulting services extend beyond initial case review to include discovery support, deposition preparation, medical education, and trial consulting.

NURSING HOME & MEDICAL MALPRACTICE

Physician Merit Reviews for Plaintiff Attorneys

Before investing substantial time and resources in litigation, attorneys need to understand whether the medical evidence supports a viable claim.

MedMal Consulting provides physician-led merit reviews evaluating the applicable standard of care, potential deviations, medical causation, and damages. Our reviews also identify important missing records, potential defenses, and issues requiring additional specialty expert evaluation.

Flat fee: $1,500 for up to 1,000 pages. Doctor OnCALL℠ members receive preferred pricing of $1,250.

Our goal is to provide more than a yes-or-no answer—giving plaintiff attorneys the medical analysis needed to make informed decisions about case development.

Medical-Legal Consulting for Record Analysis and Discovery

We can identify, organize and summarize the pertinent information in the medical records as well as identify missing medical records, thus ensuring that all necessary documents have been discovered and produced. We can assist plaintiff attorneys in identifying appropriate items to request for production, including electronic data, audit trails, hard drives, and records. MedMal physicians can quickly review a medical record for unusual entry patterns, inconsistencies, or absent corresponding entries that may suggest tampering.

Medical Chronologies by Physicians

MDTimelines™ provides physician-prepared medical chronologies and narrative summaries that help plaintiff attorneys understand complex medical records, identify significant clinical events, and prepare for litigation.

Each chronology organizes the patient's medical history into a clear, chronological format, with bookmarks and hyperlinks that make it easy to navigate directly to supporting medical records.

Unlike automated summaries, MDTimelines™ combines physician review with organized, source-linked documentation to help attorneys and medical experts evaluate the evidence efficiently.

Pricing: $35 per hour, with typical productivity of approximately 40 pages per hour.

New clients: Request a free 100-page chronology sample.

MedMal Consulting provides physician-led medical expert witness referrals for plaintiff attorneys handling medical malpractice, nursing home negligence, and personal injury cases.

We identify qualified, board-certified, actively practicing medical experts whose clinical experience aligns with the specific standard-of-care and causation issues involved in each case.

Our referral process includes evaluating specialty requirements, identifying appropriate candidates, and conducting conflict checks before facilitating direct communication between the attorney and expert.

Referral fee: $1,500 per expert/case. Doctor OnCALL℠ members receive preferred pricing of $1,250.

Attorneys retain and compensate referred experts directly. MedMal Consulting does not mark up expert fees or influence their independent medical opinions.

Physician Medical Review

Ongoing Physician Support for Plaintiff Attorneys

Doctor OnCALL℠ gives plaintiff attorneys convenient access to physician consultants for medical questions arising throughout litigation.

Whether you need clarification of complex medical records, assistance evaluating clinical issues, or a second opinion on an AI-generated medical summary, Doctor OnCALL℠ provides physician guidance when accuracy matters.

Trust but verify. AI-generated summaries can be useful starting points, but important clinical findings, chronology details, and medical conclusions should be independently verified.

Membership: $150 per month with a one-year commitment.

Members also save $250 on physician merit reviews and medical expert witness referrals.

Attorney Medical Malpractice Education

MedMal Consulting provides physician-led medical education and litigation support to help plaintiff attorneys understand the clinical issues underlying their cases.

Our physicians work directly with attorneys to explain complex medical records, relevant medical literature, standards of care, and potential causation issues. This preparation helps attorneys develop informed case strategies, anticipate defense arguments, and communicate effectively with retained medical experts.

Services may include medical case conferences, deposition preparation, development of medically appropriate questions, identification of potential defense theories, and assistance with medical demonstrative evidence for mediation or trial.

Unlike a retained testifying expert, MedMal Consulting serves as a consulting physician resource, helping attorneys understand the medicine and prepare their cases without directing the opinions of independently retained experts.

Deposition Preparation and Trial Consulting

MedMal Consulting provides physician-led support to help plaintiff attorneys prepare for depositions, expert testimony, and medical malpractice trials.

Our physicians assist attorneys in reviewing medical evidence, identifying important clinical issues, developing medically informed deposition questions, and anticipating potential defense arguments.

Services may include deposition preparation, analysis of opposing expert opinions, development of Rules of the Road questions, medical literature review, and assistance with demonstrative evidence.

We also provide medical consultation during depositions and trial preparation when appropriate, helping attorneys recognize significant clinical testimony and formulate effective follow-up questions.

Our role is to help attorneys understand and effectively present the medical evidence—not to replace independently retained testifying experts.
